40s Tilt Hat in Taupe Wool With Veil and Feathers – Better 。This is a glorious piece of history! This taupe one-of-a-kind tilt hat is made of taupe colored felt. There is a gorgeous tall, rounded top crown which has creases projecting upwards. At the back there are ostrich feathers in ivory and brown shades, plus a chocolate brown smaller one at the top. This is an amazingly creative design! The brim is very short around then front, and a bit wider at the back. A gorgeous hatpin is attached to one side. There is a felt band attached to the inside of the hat with a small elastic \"O\" ring to accommodate many head sizes. This is a treasured hat from the renowned NEW YORK CREATIONS label, sold by upscale PASADENA (CA) HATS back in the day. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s.They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
